Artisan Cheese Tasting Event on Valentine's Day with Point Reyes of California
Friday February 14, 2025 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
We are so excited to kick off our series of VIP tasting events with an artisan Cheese Tasting event with POINT REYES on Valentine's Day from 4-6 pm. It will be the perfect thing to do before dinner on this special evening, when you come to pick up wine on your way to the restaurant, or when you are on your way home to celebrate. And if you don't have any particular plans that evening, here's your plan!!! We will also open a couple bottles of California wine to pair with the delectable cheeses from the award-winning, woman-owned, Point Reyes Farm & Creamery, founded in 2000.
First we will taste Point Reyes' QUINTA cheese, a soft-ripened, bloomy rind cow's milk cheese with a silky-smooth interior texture. Quinta is wrapped in bark and infused with the essence of farm-harvested Bay Laurel. This is a stunningly beautiful cheese modeled after the legendary Vacherin cheese produced in France and Switzerland. Why name her Quinta? This name is especially meaningful to the Point Reyes family for two reasons. First, Quinta means Farmstead in Portuguese. Their maternal grandparents were from Portugal so this cheese honors their mom and Ferreira family heritage. Second, Quinta means Fifth in Spanish. This cheese is the fifth product in the Point Reyes core line-up, so the name Quinta also honors the hard-working staff at Point Reyes with Latin heritages.
Next we will taste two 'World Cheese Award' winning TOMAS : TomaProvence and TomaTruffle. The TOMA PROVENCE is full of savory Mediterranean flavor of Herbs de Provence like basil, wild thyme and rosemary. The texture is firm with creamy butteriness. Made from pasteurized, rBST-free cows’ milk and microbial (vegetarian) rennet, aged for 90 days. TomaProvence is a particularly great match with Dry Rosé from Provence or California Chardonnay.
Next the TOMA TRUFFLE has a wildly delicious, intense yet elegant truffle flavor, made with a special black truffle paste from Umbria, crafted by the famed Sabatino truffle food company. Again, the texture is smooth and creamy but firm. Made from pasteurized, rBST-free cows’ milk and microbial (vegetarian) rennet, also aged for 90 days. For an outrageous food pairing, melt this cheese into eggs at dinner (or brunch) or serve room temperature wedges with Spanish potato chips and French Champagne and/or Italian Franciacorta sparkling wine.
Last but not least, we will taste the cheese that started it all at Point Reyes : the ORIGINAL BLUE. Produced on the Point Reyes family farm since 2000, California’s classic style blue cheese is rindless, all-natural and gluten-free. The ultra creamy and addictive flavor is bold with hints of sweet milk and a peppery finish. Made from raw (non-pasteurized), rBST-free cows’ milk and microbial (vegetarian) rennet. Aged 3 1/2 months.
WINES TBD, but don't worry, they will be tasty too!!! :)
