This winery is owned by a very long line of wine growers, winemakers and black-smiths named Boisson since the 1700's. In the old times, the Boisson, had two jobs at once: they were both wine-makers and black-smiths. The name of the estate comes from this second profession, because the nails used to fix the shoe under the horse’s foot are called, in the regional language, “caboche”. It was, at the time, the nickname used to call the Boisson family. That is how the first bottles of the Domaine du Père Caboche appeared in Châteauneuf du Pape. Since then, the family has had parcels that have remained in the family, without there being any exchange or sale. The vines which are still there now are over 100 years old and produce an outstanding wine. The oldest parcel was planted in 1906. Today they are vine-growers from father to son and daughter.
Made of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, this is bright and deep ruby red with bluish highlights. The nose is intense with full aromas of ripe red fruits, mineral (schist) and smoky hints on soft spices. This full-bodied wine has a nice balance between sweetness and a fine tannic structure. The fruity and peppery flavors dominate on licorice and Espelette pepper finish. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine is really complex, full of freshness and elegance with a long finish.

Beautiful red cherries, framboise, spring flowers, and sappy garrigue notes all define the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a classic, elegant release from this notable estate. Incredibly complex, medium-bodied, and seamless on the palate, it's never the biggest or richest wine in a vintage, but this cuvée always shines for its nuance, complexity, and elegance. It's going to drink nicely right out of the gate.
