This notable estate in Meursault was founded in the late 1800's and is today managed by the charismatic Dominique Lafon. In 1923 while Mayor of Meursault, Jules Lafon revived the tradition of celebrating the end of the grape harvest with a meal. Although originally for the estate proprietor and his workers he also invited 35 of his friends to a banquet and the famous 'Paulée de Meursault' was born. It rapidly evolved to become, after the banquet at Clos Vougeot and the wine auctions at the Hospice of Beaune, the final stage of the 'Trois Glorieuses'. Today, around 600 people take part each year and during the course of the proceedings, the literary prize of the same name is presented.

The 2018 Meursault Les Porusots 1er Cru is maybe the dark horse of Dominique Lafon's wines this vintage. Exceptional clarity and delineation on the nose, the crushed rock and white flower scents wafting from the glass. The palate is well defined and sports a very subtle reduction. Powerful and intense with plenty of spice, ginger and white pepper enhancing the finish. Superb. Drinking Window: 2023-2045.

The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Porusots is also very lively and nicely defined this year, displaying scents of pear, lemon oil, crisp green apple, white flowers and a subtle touch of oak vanillin. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, chalky and incisive, with terrific tension for the vintage, concluding with a mouthwatering finish. 91-93
