Robert Mondavi established his namesake winery in 1966 with a vision to create Napa Valley wines that would stand in the company of the world’s finest wines. He chose To Kalon Vineyard in the heart of the Napa Valley as the home for his winery. This first-growth vineyard, located in Oakville, California, is renowned for producing some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the world, as well as for its Sauvignon Blanc grapes, from which Mr. Mondavi crafted his signature white wine, Fume Blanc.
Fruit for Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet comes from sub-appellations throughout the Valley, each of which have been specially chosen for being a true reflection of place, a gorgeous expression of Napa Valley. Nearly half of this year’s blend is sourced from the deep, well-drained soils of Oakville, which created gorgeously dark, supple wines framed by fine tannin. Complementary portions of the blend come from Stags Leap District, Oak Knoll, Yountville and Rutherford.
Made of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Framed by lovely bright acidity and fine tannins, look for vibrant fruit notes shining through to the end. Cherry, purple plum, sage, sandalwood, mint, and vanilla bean on the nose. Sweet black fruit, warm oak spice, and chocolate on the palate.

A polished, fruit-driven style, but with nice focus, as singed alder and savory notes provide a gentle nudge along the edges of the plum and cassis core. Ends with a subtle loam echo on the finish. Drink now through 2032. 90,000 cases made.

The classic 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is outstanding, with a more black fruit-driven profile as well as some violet and scorched earth nuances. Aged 18 months in 32% new French oak, it's medium to full-bodied, has a lifted, perfumed profile, supple tannins, and a great finish. Enjoy bottles over the coming decade. Maturity 2023-2033.
