3rd Generation Winemaker Charlie Wagner II explains the inspiration behind Conundrum: ‘As a kid growing up in California I remember seeing my grandfather sitting at his kitchen table blending different wines together. It didn't matter what the grape varieties were. He would blend, taste and explore…’ Fast forward to 1989, when Conundrum White was born, quickly taking off with its mysterious, tropical notes and amazing versatility. Conundrum Red, serious yet approachable, was introduced in 2011. Today Charlie II keeps Conundrum as original as ever in honor of his family.
The fruit for Conundrum is sourced in places that are both famed and off the beaten track – in Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara, San Benito, Solano and Tulare Counties. Its character starts in the vineyard, in small towns where families have been farming for generations and there’s always plenty of good conversation, great grapes and more to explore.
When the Wagner's think of Conundrum white they think : Fresh fajitas. Relaxing before dinner. A night out for Thai or Vietnamese. Conundrum White goes with them all. Sourced from California’s premier winegrowing regions, this wine is both exotic and bright, a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscat Canelli and Viognier. It lures you in with scents of apricot, pear and honeysuckle, orange and lemon meringue pie. Initial sweetness is balanced by natural acidity, and a hint of oak that plays with flavors of peach, apple and citrus.
