Since 1868, Domaine Jacques Prieur has created one of the rarest mosaics of terroirs in Burgundy. Today it is probably the only estate owning vineyards on the greatest appellations both of Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits: Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot, Echézeaux, Corton, Meursault or Montrachet. This amazing collection is completed by other prestigious appellations and 3 Clos Monopoles. Today, this jewel of Burgundy is led the Labruyère Family, supported by Prieur Family's heirs, and they promote and defend the great terroirs of Burgundy worldwide.
Domaine Jacques Prieur owns the 4 acre monopole of 1er Cru of Clos de la Fèguine which is perched on a very steep portion of the south facing hillside. This vineyard sits on a former quarry and contains a light brown silty soil made up of gravelly clay and limestone and provides ideal drainage for the vines. The grapes at this high quality domaine are hand harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. The must will sit on the skins for 24 hours prior to fermentation. The wine ages for 17 months of in oak barrels deep in the cellars of Domaine Jacques Prieur. They also have a very talented woman winemaker, still not all that common in Burgundy.
Look for an intense ruby red color, with purple reflections. The aromas are charming and revealing, with notes of small black fruits, ripe and fresh, evolving to sweet spices and roasted nuts. The palate is a tasty, juicy cocktail of fresh black fruits, licorice and vanilla. The wine is generous and energetic on the palate, with smooth, elegant tannins.

A cool, pure and elegant mix is comprised by notes of both red and dark raspberry, soft spice and subtle floral wisps. The delicious, vibrant and attractively textured middle weight flavors evidence ample minerality on the youthfully austere, focused and slightly warm finale. This is already really quite pretty though a wine that will need more depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range. 89-91
