Michele Chiarlo was founded in 1956 by the sole and present owners, Michele and Giuseppina Chiarlo. From a family of wine growers for over seven generations, Mr. Chiarlo is today one of the most respected producers of the fine wines of Piedmont and a leading figure in its viticultural industry. The family calls themselves traditional, because they have always aimed to promote the great terroirs of Langhe and Monferrato, using only indigenous grape varieties, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cortese and Moscato grown exclusively in the hills, which are the authentic expression and symbol of this land and the ancient wine culture of these places. They are also traditional in producing 100% estate bottled wines. Traditional again, because they only vinify wines in purity, without blending grape types, searching to capture the character, the expression of personality, the goût de terroir. And finally traditional, because they are a family. For four generations at the Michele Chiarlo estate, they have lived the world of wine as a passion and destiny: a suitcase of experiences which, passed down from father to son, today translates into a wealth of living and active knowledge, ready to understand and confront future challenges.
This glorious Barolo from the Cerequio vineyard has a ruby and garnet red color with brilliant hues. Complex, great character with notes of mature fruits, mint, eucalyptus and fine spices. A rich palate in structure with a tight weave of fine tannins, standing out for its elegance and harmony which highlights this famous Barolo cru.

Forest berries, underbrush, rose and menthol aromas lead the nose along with a potpourri of varied spices. Hailing from La Morra in one of the denomination's top sites, the palate is a stunning combination of structure and finesse, delivering small red berries, baking spices and the vineyard's iconic minty accents framed in silky tannins. Licorice notes lingers on the finish. Drink 2025-2035.

The Michele Chiarlo 2018 Barolo Cerequio opens to a pretty lacework of aromas with smaller berry fruits, crushed stone, rusty nail, pressed lilac or blue flower and a dusting of spicy licorice powder. The bouquet is vertical and tight, leading to a very precise succession of varietal tones that flavor the wine's polished finish. The Cerequio has ample power as well, with etched tannins that grip this Nebbiolo firmly to the palate.
