Baglio Di Pianetto Nero d'Avola 2021

Baglio Di Pianetto produces 100% organic wines with a Sicilian and international soul, displaying both high quality and an eco-sustainable pedigree. This red made of the indigenous Nero d'Avola grape is smooth and pleasurable, versatile and approachable, perfect to sip during happy hour or to serve with salmon, white & red meats, pasta, panini and pizza.

After the grapes are quality-selected and picked, the berries are gently pressed and the must fermented in stainless-steel, temperature-controlled tanks. The wine then matures in steel for 14 months and in the bottle for a minimum of 3 months.  With its purple-flecked ruby red color, this Nero d'Avola boasts intense notes of redcurrant, wild strawberry, and pomegranate. Crisp yet smooth in the mouth, it finishes with a lovely, long finish. At its best when partnered with the classic pasta alla Norma, but impressive with red meats and wild game as well.

Calling themselves a 'LITTLE SWITZERLAND' in the countryside of Palermo, Baglio di Pianetto is where Count Paolo Marzotto understood he could pursue and carry out his oenological research. Located in the municipality of Santa Cristina Gela, in the north-west of Sicily close to Palermo, Pianetto Estate sits at an altitude of approx. 650 m. asl. The vineyards, well ventilated with a high temperature excursion between day and night, offer the ideal climate and soil composition to create wines of great aromatic complexity. A high-hill viticulture, surrounded by mountain forests, basins and small clearings in the heart of the DOC of Monreale, the home of a precious and highly-regarded vine-terroir interaction.
