Origin | France, Burgundy, Santenay |
Now owned by the esteemed House of Jadot, Domaine Prieur-Brunet was originally imported into the USA by our dad, Tom Murray. He had a long-standing relationship with former owner Madame Dominique Uny-Prieur and her late husband Claude. The original domaine traces its history back to 1804 and in 1955 became Domaine Prieur-Brunet when the two historic families of Meursault (Prieur) and Santenay (Brunet) joined in marriage. This wine was always a Bottle Shop favorite. A rich, full and terroir-driven red Burgundy offering vivid dark fruit and spice flavors, La Maladière is one of the prime premier cru sites in Santenay, and key reason for Jadot wanting to purchase the domaine.

Beautiful sweet cherries at the front, then the tannins come through and make a serious statement on the generous palate for this appellation. But the winemaker really got this one down, so there's not a jot too much tannin. Lovely blood-orange acidity at the generous finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Scents of peonies, red berries, cinnamon and orange rind introduce the 2020 Santenay 1er Cru Maladière (Domaine Prieur-Brunet), a medium to full-bodied, lively wine framed by powdery, youthfully chewy tannins and concluding with creditable length. This saw some whole bunch this year. 89-91
