This is a truly exciting project happening in our own backyard! The Atlantic Wine Project was created by our friend Patrick Harney in collaboration with Bellview winery. We tasted through all of his Jardín wines as well as several Bellview wines and we were so impressed that we purchased 3 different wines to proudly stock from N.J. in N.J.!
Founded in 2000, Bellview Winery is located on soil that the Quarella family has been farming for a century. A hard-working Italian-American family who loves to grow things, the Quarella's are led by Jim Quarella, founder and president of Bellview Winery, who takes pride in crafting fine estate wines exclusively from the grapes that are cultivated in their own 50 acres of vineyards which they farm with sustainable methods. Attention to detail and high quality is evident in each wine, which include over a dozen estate grown varietals as well as a selection of white, red, fruit, and specialty wines including a Port and an ice style wine. Bellview has also become well known for its Dandelion wine made from an old Quarella family recipe that goes back for generations.
Part of the success of Bellview is focusing on grape varieties well-suited to the Outer Coastal Plain soils and climate, which means that the consumer will have the joy of discovering new grapes. Jardín White is made of 90% Cayuga White and 10% Aromella. Cayuga White is a signature grape of the Mid-Atlantic region. Cultivated by seasoned growers, it can produce a serious white with lovely citrus and stone fruit flavors. Aromelia is a newer variety developed on the East Coast which imparts an elegant floral freshness. A small amount of French oak is used for polish on the finish. The sandy, gravel soils of the Outer Coastal Plain play a key role in this wine's balanced acidity and elegant texture. The humid, maritime climate here is well-suited for these grapes as well. Cayuga White is resistant to mold, and is a hybrid grape developed at Cornell University.

Greeted by fresh, juicy aromas followed by minerally salty flavors laced white peaches, clementines and flowers, this was such a delightful surprise. Jardín white also has a nice dose of acidity for pairing with lemony seafood dishes, salads, tropical chicken, tacos and more. Only 11.7% alcohol which we especially love on lazy summer days...
