Accendo Cellars is the Araujo Family’s wine brand, made by two generations working together with their longstanding team to honor the winemaking and family heritage of Napa Valley. They seek to ILLUMINATE: to shine a light on what’s behind the bottle – great vineyards, enlightened and sustainable farming, artisanal winemaking and the art of the blend. Wines that build on what came before, generation to generation.
They also want to INSPIRE: to produce and promote classically styled wines that express their terroir with balance, purity and nobility; revisit the iconic Napa Valley Cabernets of the 1950s – 1970s, sourced from multiple vineyards and showing perfectly 50 – 70 years later. Great wines don’t answer all the questions at the first sip. Great wines inspire a dialog about what makes them great.
They wish to AROUSE: to continue the conversation about what makes a great wine great, a conversation that burns on, generation after generation; participate in the passion of our efforts to produce singular wines and sustain our industry, our environment and our community.
“I find winemaking truly fascinating because, at its highest level, it requires a combination of technical and scientific expertise plus a level of artistic interpretation and instinct. It is humbling that, no matter how much you do, or how much you invest, you can only ever really control 50% of the variables that impact you.” – BART ARAUJO
Accendo Sauvignon Blanc is the product of discriminating fruit sourcing and conscientious, diligent farming. The wine is powerful, yet it possesses a delicacy and artfulness that can only come with a winemaking philosophy that honors the integrity of the fruit and the vineyard’s terroir. Accendo gives this wine extra time in barrel and bottle prior to each release, resulting in an exquisitely balanced Sauvignon Blanc that is aromatically complex, concentrated in flavor and richly textured – a wine influenced by both a Graves from Bordeaux and a Sauvignon Blanc from the New World.

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Is fabulous, especially for a year that was so dry and warm. Light on its feet and gracious, with sublime balance, the 2022 is seriously impressive. Lemon confit, sage, tobacco, mint and dried flowers all grace this impeccable Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc (which is made by Fran oise Peschon) includes a decent splash of Semillon, with the fruit mostly from Oakville. Bright lemon curd, honeyed white flowers, chalky minerality, and just a hint of tropical flowers all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with a clean, refreshing mouthfeel, good concentration, and a great finish. 91-93

Accendo's 2022 Sauvignon Blanc combines fruit from the Araujo's home property in Oakville (Rancho Pequeño) with the Ehrlich Vineyard (also in Oakville) and the Juliana Vineyard in Pope Valley. It's 71% Sauvignon Blanc, 19% Sémillon and 10% Sauvignon Musqué, fermented and aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels, plus some stainless steel drums. Citrus notes are joined by hints of fig and melon on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is creamy in feel, finishing with gentle silky nuances, bright, fresh and long.
