With these bargain Italian reds, you can re-live the '90's, back when Nirvana was #1 on the radio and you could buy our first wine, Vitiano Rosso for about $10 bucks. Today, this same wine from Umbria is on sale for $8.99, and just as delicious! Vitiano was created in the early nineties during the wave of Super Tuscans hence the blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. It was a case stack favorite back then that over-delivered for the price and still does today! So bust out your flannel, pump up "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and pop a bottle of Vitiano.
Our second wine is from Montalcino in Tuscany produced by Marilisa Allegrini, the first Italian woman to appear on the cover of Wine Spectator. Her family owns Allegrini vineyard in Veneto, and Marilisa has been in Tuscany for almost 25 years crafting high quality values. Like a Brunello di Montalcino, 'Rubio' is made of 100% Sangiovese, harvested by hand in high elevation vineyards rich in calcium and clay. 'Rubio' is bottled unoaked to preserve the fresh, bright, ripe style of delicious Tuscan Sangiovese.
