Two Top Bordeaux Estatesin Pairs of White + Red :Lynch Bages & Cos D'Estournel
Today's email is a super cool idea! We are offering 'pairs' of White & Red Bordeaux from two completely iconic Bordeaux estates we visited earlier this year : Lynch Bages in Pauillac and Cos d'Estournel in Saint Estèphe. White Bordeaux is all the rage right now in wine circles, so we hunted down & acquired two impeccable examples for you to pair w/ their renowned reds.
The Blanc de Lynch Bages 2022 is the perfect intro to this rare white which the estate has crafted since 1990. Ripe yet fresh, floral & citrusy, minerally yet honeyed, it's made of 67% Sauvignon, 22% Sémillon and 11% Muscadelle. Paired with a STELLAR vintage of Lynch Bages Red - 2020. Both wines are cellar worthy, impressive and delicious!

Then from Cos, the white's gorgeous blue label is enough to make us swoon, and then its explosive style with nectarine, white peach, ginger, stone and herb flavors blew us away. Made of 66% Sauvignon Blanc and 34% Sémillon. We chose to pair this with the 2019 Cos red, a powerful, statuesque Saint-Estèphe that can be decanted tonight and enjoyed with food, yet it will also cellar for at least 2 decades.
**Both of our featured estates today are using sustainable & organic methods in their prized vineyards. Bordeaux in general is doing such a great job at focusing on environmental practices and organic farming**

RATED 95 JAMES SUCKLING : 'A bright and vivid white with sliced lemon, grapefruit and mineral character. Medium to full body. Crisp acidity and a minerally finish. Lots of energy this year despite the hot and dry growing season. 67% sauvignon blanc, 22% semillon and 11% muscadelle. Drinking beautifully already.' |

RATED 99 JAMES SUCKLING : 'A beautifully layered red with blackcurrant, hazelnut and lead-pencil character and fine, velvety tannins. Full-bodied and reserved. It’s like a tightly knit ball of polished tannins that are cashmere in texture. So very long and impressive. Give this time. A terrific Lynch.' Drink/decant 2025-2040 |

RATED 96 JEB DUNNUCK : 'The 2020 Château Cos D'Estournel Blanc, a blend of 66% Sauvignon Blanc and 34% Semillon, brings another level of density as well as complexity. Honeyed pineapple, melon, crushed stone, and spicy, savory herbs notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a beautifully layered, elegant mouthfeel and a great finish. It's a gem of a white and ranks with the crème de la crème of the vintage. It should keep for 10-15 years.' |

RATED 99 JAMES SUCKLING : 'This is so aromatic with blackcurrants, black berries and raspberries. Pure fruit, together with coffee and nutmeg. Really fresh and clean with bright spices. Full-bodied, yet reserved and tight with fantastic structure. So long. This is a great Cos for the cellar. A real benchmark for the true character. Needs at least five or six years to open and come around.' Drink 2024-2040. |
