VIP Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino Tasting Event
Friday September 6, 2024 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Join us for this spectacular event featuring the award-winning wines of the Caparzo estate, located in Tuscany, Italy. Owned by mother & daughter team Elisabetta Gnudi & Alessandra Angelini, who also own the famed Altesino vineyard, Caparzo has gone from strength to strength over the last 50+ years.
Our guest VIP will be Caparzo's export director Mirco Biliorsi, a Montalcino native who has always been surrounded by vineyards producing high quality Brunello wine. The beginning of the history of Caparzo dates to the end of the sixties, when a group of friends, fond of Tuscany and of wine, purchased an old ruin with vineyards at Montalcino. The farm estate was renovated, modernized and new vineyards were planted. In a short time, Caparzo was able to impose itself on the market of Brunello. The vineyards are carefully looked after during the whole growth cycle. Nothing is left to chance, with each operation strictly carried out by expert hands. A true labor of love happens at Caparzo, driven by passion.
Take a trip to Tuscany with us and taste a lineup of Caparzo wines that will include a highly limited, fresh Tuscan Chardonnay from the 2023 vintage; a bright, effusive Rosso di Montalcino from 2022; the estate's standard bearer Brunello di Montalcino from 2018; and the double 95-pointer Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from the outstanding 2016 vintage. A similar line-up of Caparzo wines at a renowned restaurant in Philadelphia fetched $395 per person for a communal dinner. We will serve fresh fabulous European cheeses and charcuterie from our renowned Food Market. This is a complimentary Bottle Shop event.
Cheers! the Murray family

Caparzo was listed by Wine Spectator as one of Brunello di Montalcino's 'Cream of the Crop' producers. The estate is comprised of 475 acres, with 125 total acres planted to vineyards on all 5 sides of the hill of Montalcino, the only estate with this benefit. This gives owner Elizabetta Gnudi Angelini, with her winemaker Massimo Bracalente, access to all of the different terroirs of the appellation, from soil differences to unique microclimates to varying altitudes of vineyards. Serve with roasted meats, hearty pasta dishes, braised meats, rustic lamb courses and/or Italian cheeses and olives. |

Caparzo owner Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini created this new Chardonnay IGT in 2013. It is produced with grapes coming from three estates she owns in Tuscany : Caparzo, Borgo Scopeto, and Doga delle Clavule. The historical family crest perfectly epitomizes the three estates: three roses on a shield that stand for the three wine cellars. |
